I've been working on this a lot over the past few years!

It's fun to try to sing in other intervals than unison or octaves too. If you listen to Hubert Laws' recording of "The Baron", there's a phrase in the intro to the song where he sings along in harmony with the notes he's playing. I was really inspired by this!

I am hoping to record and share more of these duets-in-4-parts this year, but here's one where I've recorded two videos; This is from a 4-part arrangement for voices, SATB; I play the soprano part on the flute while singing bass, and then play the alto part while singing tenor.

I also have been practicing Freddie Hubbard's "Little Sunflower" with playing one melody line and vocalizing the other. This parallel thirds motion is a great way to practice vocalizing in harmony. George Benson's parallel thirds riff in "Breezin'" is another tune I've been practicing for this.

If you're able to hold a steady pitch with your voice, it's also possible to hear the Combination Tones. I'm working on that too, but it'll be a while before I could make a coherent video describing and demonstrating it.

Yeah Kaleem.. that sounds really beautiful! I love the doubling up of the flutes and voice, you get a really gerat blend! That must have taken a lot of work! Congrats!!
